This is a love story, a kind that you have never seen before. Spike Jonze has created a cinematic event that you should not miss.
Just as in Being John Malkovich, Jonze explores deeply philosophical themes by imagining a world where the software that is presently driving Siri (Apple’s iPhone intelligent assistant) has become so sophisticated that it takes on the status of a real person. Theodore Twombly, who hires himself out to write love letter for other people, is separated from his wife and lonely. A bit desperate for companionship he tries out a new operating system for interaction. He was not prepared for how good the interaction would be. The only flaw of the film is that it runs a bit too long. The editors could have cut out another 30 minutes without losing anything of significance.
