Shine
For those of us who like classical music, Shine is a real treat. The film chronicles the life of the piano child prodigy David Helfgott.
David has an ambitious father as so many children have who end up practicing an instrument for endless hours a day while other children lead a carefree life. What makes this movie work, aside from the beautiful music, is that you do not know where it is going. There are several surprising twists. The performance of Geoffrey Rush earned him rightfully an Oscar. I just learned that a German lady recently made a documentary about him entitled Hello I am David. I am a bit weary to watch it because Shine is so good.
