No Time to Die

No Time to Die

24 January 2022

Sometimes in the 1990s I had vowed never to see another James Bond movie. In my early teens, I watched a James Bond movie every weekend. I described c my teenage love affair with James Bond that came to an end like many teenage love affairs do here: Me and Mr. Bond. But when Daniel Craig took over the role and the producers announced that they would give Bond emotional depth, I wanted to see whether they have achieved this in Casino RoyaleThey did as I wrote in my review.

I have not seen another James Bond movie since Casino Royale but when Daniel Craig announced he would retire from the role and I had heard from the friend it was really good, I was curious. On a plane, I was offered the No Time To Die. I remained skeptical for the first 20 minutes that the film was any good because it started with silly, totally unrealistic car chases. But then gradually the film becomes less formulaic and reaches unexpected emotional depths. I did not expect what unfolded and was deeply moved in the last hour. I do not want to tell you more details because if you ever liked James Bond you want to see Craig’s final performance. He took Bond to a different level and can be proud of his achievement.
