Silver Linings Playbook
Thank God for moderate expectations. Silver Linings Playbook was much better than I anticipated. Pat (Bradley Cooper) remains undiagnosed with bipolar personality disorder until he finds his wife in the shower cheating with a colleague from work. Pat almost kills the man. His lawyer manages to keep him out of prison by letting the state lock him up in a mental hospital.

Amour
I can see that Amour wins an Oscar tomorrow for Best Foreign Film, but I doubt that he will the Oscar for Best Picture. Why? Amour is too serious, too much art and too little entertainment.

The Intouchables
This delightful French comedy made me laugh many times. The charm rests in brining together two people from the opposite side of the French social spectrum.

Les Miserables
I remember the musical on which this film is based as the best musical that I had seen on Broadway. Victor Hugo’s story was powerful, the singing superb and the acting believable. I felt deeply violated by the film adaptation of the musical.

Brief Notes on Holiday Movies
The Bourne Legacy. Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) does not show up in person in this film. Maybe that is why it was received more poorly than the previous Bourne film. The film was actually entertaining. Total Recall. In this futuristic film only small portions of the earth are still inhabitable.
