Definitely, Maybe offers some new ideas for how to create tension in the romantic comedy genre. As always boy and girl cannot make up their mind who they want to be with. But the story is told in a different way. Our boy just received his divorce papers and is about to sign them. His 8-year-old daughter wants to know why it did not work out between her mom and him. She forces him to tell his story going back to when he first moved to NY City. If you are a romantic comedy fan and want light fare for an evening, this film is for you.
I laughed tears on during the original My Fat Greek Wedding. The sequel is not nearly as funny. From the beginning, you wonder whose wedding it will be this time. First it seems, grandpa might get his way and the 17-year-old granddaughter is getting married a tiny bit early. But then the film wonders in different directions. It becomes more a meditation on family life, getting older and the difficulty of keeping romance in marriage. Perhaps Mia Vardalos (director and lead) on purpose made this film not as funny as the first one.
Movies exist since 1894. Some critics believe that all possible topics for films have already been covered and that all new films are remakes, at best variation on the theme rather than truly new ideas. Before we go certainly falls in this category.
When they leave to home and become freshmen at college many people feel out of place. Tracy enrolls in Barnard College in Manhattan but finds it difficult to make friends. She is rejected from the student writers’ society.
I watched every episode of the eight seasons of Entourage when it ran from 2004-11 HBO. It was fun entertainment, particularly for men, helping to get one’s mind away from the problems of the day and relax for half an hour.
